Hidden volume on 3TB Time Capsule

I recently acquired a 3TB Time Capsule (the old Mac Mini form factor type) from a colleague who hadn't used it in years, with the goal of using the device as a wireless drive and hub for several USB HDs. The Time Machine aspect isn't important to me. It is more useful the more of the full 3TB capacity I can use as direct drive space.

When first connected to my Ethernet network, it showed up as separate "Time Capsule" (2TB) and "Personal Data" (1TB) volume on my Desktop. Connecting to the device required a password, which my colleague no longer recalled. Thus, I factory reset the device.

Afterwards, I was able to erase and rename the data partition via the Airport Utility, but the previous Time Capsule volume is no longer visible in the Airport Utility or any other way.

I am trying to find a way to access the now-invisible volume. Is there any way to access the internal HD in the Capsule via Disk Utility? It doesn't show up there.
