Mail opens with "No Message Selected"

Is there some way on iOS 9 mail to select a default mailbox so that when you open the program it opens the messages in that default mailbox.  Currently when I open the application, it opens into the "mailboxes" screen, and has a message "No Message Selected."

I Have the same issue with iPad Air, but not the iPhone 5s. Annoying, and it doesn't happen every time. It never shows the mailbox column on left hand side of the window. Sometimes it opens to the last email that was viewed, sometimes it opens to a blank window with the message "no message selected"

Same here, and can't figure out why.

Add me to the list...   iPad not working, iPhone works fine.

Interesting - It only seems to affect my iPad when I open Mail in portrait mode.  Try opening Mail in landscape mode, then you should get both your mail list on the left and any selected mail message on the right.

Right, so, if you experience the problem, rotate to landscape, and if you really want portrait, rotate back.  I don't think I'm going to lose any sleep over this one!

I also noticed that when the blank window appears with "no message selected" all you have to do is swipe the screen from left to right and the column of mailboxes appears on the left. I wont lose sleep over this one either, but it is buggy. It doesnt happen with iphone 5s.

Confirming all of the above happens with me as well in ios9, on both iPad Air 2 and iPad 3.

Didn't happen with ios 8.

No big issue, but still somewhat annoying.

ipad mini 4 does the same for me which is more annoying then anything else.  I was wonder if a future update will fix this issue?

I get the same occasionally and I suspect that there is a bug so yes, I hope it is resolved in with an update....

Interesting, this has been happening to me on both of my iPads for a while now.  Opening in landscape also solves the problem for me.  Great tip Haasome

I Have this issue too, and can confirm that it remains unfixed in iOS 9.2

Confirmed 9.2 does not fix this issue.
