share calendar other than Family

So I've been sharing the same apple id as my wife for ages, but got fed up with the confusion and have set her up with a separate id. However, we have been sharing all the iCloud contacts and calendar entries (for multiple things). Help, how do I get her access back to all the contacts and calendar entries?

Why are you not able, or willing, to use Family Sharing for this? That’s definitely the easiest way.

I have set up family sharing, but this doesn't appear to give my wife access to all the contacts in my iCloud account

Contacts cannot be shared.  Events in the "Family" calendar are shared.
