Why does my IPod 5th gen keep heating up?

So basically I play clash royale and after 3 battles, my app closes down and I get a black screen for like 6 seconds. It has never done this with CR since I have been playing when it came out. The part that gets hot on top where the camera is. I have a 16 Gb IPod but even though I have the worst space, I have not used it all as I only have like 4 downloaded apps that are small, excluding Clash Royale. I rage all the time and I rage even more when my brother's android (BLUE or BLU company name) handles it better than my what so called "better device". Please help me find a solution to my problem, an answer would be greatly appreciated.
