iPad Music quits

I have 1.44GB of downloaded music on my iPad (iOS 10.3.3). Haven't recently listened. Now the app. quits frequently, either part way through a recording, or when I switch to a new track, or just anytime on a whim. Is there anything in Settings I should alter, or what else should I try? Thanks.
