No IPv4 Stack

I am running 10.12.6 on a mid-2010 iMac.

Yesterday I restarted my iMac for the first time in a while. When everyting came up I had no connection to the Internet for any applications i.e. Safari, email etc.I have rebooted both my router and my iMac a number of times since, but no sucess.

I'm not an expert in these matters, but here's what I would descibe as strange looking factors;

1) My router sees my iMac as an IPv6 only device - not a dual stack.

2) My router states "This device either does not support or is not configured for IPv4 addressing." i.e. my iMac

3) There is no Internet connection over either WiFi or Ethernet, but each will show as "connected" in Network Preferences if I try them in turn.

4) I don't seem to be getting an IPv4 address from the router using DHCP.

All other devices in the home work fine, Windows PCs, iPads and iPhones.

I'd be very grateful for any assistance on how to fix this as I have been living with this issue for 24 hours and am now totally out of ideas.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Regards,

Chris
