MacBook pro touch ID failed?  Also, extrem...

All three problems mentioned above started all at once a week ago.  I gotta say that I've been using Windows 10 on boot camp primarily for 2 weeks but last week, when I boot up on Mac, the startup time is so long, like 3 to 4 minutes long.  Moreover, when I tried to unlock with touch ID , it didnt even respond, it's like it doesn't even know that my thumb is on the sensor. So, I tried to delete the old ones and tried to register as a new. But as I typed in my password to register, the screen shows that the setup has failed and I can only click cancel. That is my first 2 problems.

The another one is boot camp. Starting from last week, whenever I boot up Windows 10, boot camp assistant will tell me that there is a system error and it needs to restart. I've tried restarting it but Everytime it boots up, it keeps showing the same message.  The system, overall, works fine except the touch bar. It is completely blank now.

I have encountered more or less EXACTLY the same set of issues as described by DionNay above, having switched on my MacBook after a period of non-use, to find Touch ID no longer works (and fingerprints can no longer be added as described above).  I also have a BOOTCAMP installation - and had the strange error within Windows - which is making me wonder if it is that particular configuration which triggers a bug introduced in an update.

I also have the slow boot up problem.  The thing white horizontal progress bar gets to approximately 2/3rds of the way through, and then hangs there for approximately 4m 30s.

My Touch Bar is currently working however, but not Touch ID.

Yesterday I went through a bunch of actions with Apple support via chat (including clearing NVRAM, clearing SMC, etc.), and nothing specific having been found and no behaviour improved, this finally led to the recommendation to reinstall macOS Sierra.  Well that process did not cover itself in glory and various glitches had to be overcome and the install repeated.  At the end of this, with what I assume a TOTALLY CLEAN install of Sierra 10.12.6, I am back with exactly the same problems.  Note that I left my BOOTCAMP partition in place through this, so as a final attempt / potential waste of time I am going to perhaps try the install removing BOOTCAMP first to see if that makes a difference.  This is either some ridiculous software glitch or a hardware fault.  As an aside, according to DriveDX my SSD is happy with life - you might start to think your SSD is playing up in circumstances like this, but I don't have any strong evidence so far that it is the SSD.

One interesting feature is that prior to the re-install, the 4m 30s delay occurred after selecting a user and entering the password, i.e. post user login, however now in the fresh install, the delay occurs before the login window is presented.  Maybe adding more users will change that back to the way it used to behave.

Does anyone know what logs can be examined, or what can be switched on, to discover what the system is doing during boot-up, and where the time is going, both pre-login and post-login before the desktop appears?

And does anyone know a way of determining whether the Touch ID hardware is accessible and/or functioning or not, outside of the Touch ID app in preferences?
