iMessage does not sync between iPhone, iPad and...

If I send an iMessage on my phone the other person receives it and if they respond their response comes to my phone but not my MacBook.  If I send an iMessage with my MacBook, the other person receives it and if they reply their reply only comes to my MacBook.  What I write on my iPhone only shows on my iPhone, what I write on my MacBook only shows on my MacBook.

How do I fix this?
