I have two Time Capsules (a 4th gen, and a 5th gen), and a MBP laptop running Sierra backing up to them. To the extent that Time Machine verifications actually happen (looking back in the log shows a lot of missed attempts due to being on battery power, thermal pressure, etc.), how can I know which Time Capsule has been verified?

I did leave my laptop plugged in, shut down every app I could, except for TG Pro (lowers fan activation thresholds to keep machine cooler), and verification ran successfully. I gleaned these two entries from the ensuing log....

2017-08-19 12:36:17.365731-0400  localhost backupd[11702]: (TimeMachine) [com.apple.TimeMachine.TMLogInfo] Backup verification requested by user.

2017-08-19 12:57:54.560589-0400  localhost backupd[11702]: (TimeMachine) [com.apple.TimeMachine.TMLogInfo] Backup verification passed!

Unfortunately, it doesn't indicate which Capsule was verified.

Time Machine is supposed to run an auto check about once a week, but info in the logs in minimal.

Best to run a manual check by holding down the option key on your Mac while you click on the Time Machine "clock" icon at the top of the screen and then click on Verify Backups.

The process will take anywhere from 10-60 minutes or so depending on how much data is on the Time Capsule disk.

If you still can't tell which Time Capsule, you are checking, power off the "other" Time Capsule temporarily.

Yes, logs are minimal, and these days you have to go through Terminal to find them.

The results I posted are from a manual check ("Backup verification requested by user.")

I could try deactivating each sequentially, although that seems like a pretty kludgy way to discover a process which should be recorded somewhere in granular detail.
