Prohibitory symbol in startup with new SSD

I have a macbook pro A1278 (mid 2012) with 500GB HDD and 4(2+2)GB RAM. My HDD was broken I had to replace it. I used a 250 GB SSD and  I also replace the RAM with 16 (8+8)GB RAM. I used a boot CD to install a new OS. After the installation was done and the machine restart to finish the installation the startup shows Prohibitory symbol. I used recovery mode to repair the OS disk. At the end of the day, by starting up the machine it still shows the Prohibitory symbol but flashing with apple symbol. Sometimes if I press the power key (few times not in row) the machine startup. Other times, this does not work.

Once I could get to the Desktop I update the OS to Sierra and at the end by restarting the machine, again there was Prohibitory symbol and the same story.

Has anyone faced the same or similar problem?

Any idea to how to fix this problem?

Hi,

Some people have had to replace the HD cable to resolve the issue.
