Deleting photos from iphone but not from icloud?

So hey! I can't find an option for deleting my photos from my iPhone but not from my icloud. I want to store my files in the cloud.

If you're using iCloud Photo, you cannot delete the photos from your phone and expect it to remain in iCloud because iCloud wasn't designed that way. 

iCloud is a syncing system that syncs all of your data across all of your devices.  It's not like your traditional cloud-based archival applications like Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, Flickr, etc.
