How to share a folder of Notes and make them ed...

Hello,

I need some help...

My friend and I are apartment hunting and I have created a folder in Notes that lists each apartment we have looked at and its relevant information.  I want to be able to share this folder with my friend and let both of us have the ability to edit it.  However, I am unable to figure it out at all.  It looks like I can share each individual note, but I am unsure if it will become editable between both of us or just send them a copy.

Does anyone have any ideas for this?  Does it work in Notes or do I need to look at other apps?  If I need to look at other apps which app would be the best to accomplish this?  I feel like hat I want to accomplish is so simple.

Try using Dropbox to share the information.

Has to be a better way than Dropbox to accomplish this.  I know its possible to do it in a Pages document...

Create a secondary Apple ID at settings > mail, contacts, calendars (enter the details on each of your phones), you can turn on notes in the settings, this will create a set of notes that sync between both your devices and can be edited on each.

Just an update to this topic ... since I just learned the hard way.

In iOS 10, you can no longer access Notes on a secondary Apple ID, only the primary ID.  So this solution no longer works as it did in iOS 9.

The good news is that iOS 10 Notes supports collaboration, so there is no need for a secondary iCloud account for sharing of notes between users.  Now the note "owner" can invite other iCloud accounts to see and edit a note, terrific!

Nonsense, I can still access notes from multiple IDs.

Yes, initially the notes from your secondary iCloud account are still there.  However, go into Settings/ Mail/ Accounts/ (secondary iCloud account) and you will see the Notes setting disappear before your eyes, and the notes will too.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's true.

NO, that's not what happens at all

Oh yes it is!

In our family we have an iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPad Air 2, and iPad Pro 12.9 ... all on iOS 10 and all had a secondary iCloud ID specifically for my wife and I to share Notes.

I first noticed this morning when my iPad Pro prompted me for the secondary iCloud account password, so I went into Settings to enter it and saw the Notes setting vaporize.  I went into Notes and the common account is completely gone, as are the notes.  On my iPhone I could still see the notes from the common account, but just going into Settings for the account, without making any other changes, caused the notes to vanish.

Have you actually gone into Settings as I mentioned?  If not then it may appear that what I'm saying is not correct, but once you go into Settings I'm quite sure you'll see what I see.

Yes. And just incase you'd like to put your finger in the nail hole.

Here's my settings (note the time at the top)

Note also the bit that tells me what I can only use with a main account, it doesn't mention notes.

See my works notes still in place (note, this is one minute after visiting settings)

And just incase you wonder if those folders are empty.

Well, it is an interesting hole to put one's finger into ...

iCloud Account.jpg

This is my secondary iCloud account and it clearly looks different than yours.  The difference is either because you have a legacy @me.com account, or because you're not using iCloud Photo Library, or it's a regional difference, or you're not on iOS 10, or ???  But clearly I'm not making this up, and for whatever reason it is not affecting you.  Very odd indeed.

Last night I checked my Mac and without going into Settings I was able to drag and drop notes from my secondary iCloud account to my primary (then shared them via Sierra's new ability).  But on my Mac, just like my iOS devices, as soon as I went into settings for my secondary iCloud account, the Notes feature vanished before my eyes.

you'll be able to share folders of notes in the new releases this year

Just to update on your thread from last year. Now notes can only be used from the main account B29687A6-CE51-42A7-934F-86AE9AFD3E8A.png

And as was said back then too, this is not correct. Here are my multiple accounts in my notes app.
