How do I unlock an iPad that was being used by ...

How do I unlock an iPad that was being used by a dead or terminated employee.  I don't have the ID nor the password.  Should I throw it in the trash because there are no options?

As far as I know, if you have the original bill, you can go with the bill and an ID card to an AppleStore and they should be able to unlock the device.

If that iPad is managed through Apple Configurator, the activation lock can be bypassed that way. Otherwise, take it and its purchase receipt to a physical Apple Store.

As getangar stated, you can take it and proof of ownership to an Apple Store and have them unlock it, in future you may want to consider locking them with a company ID rather than the employee's personal ID.
