How do I turn off dashboard on my MacBook Pro?

I've already tried to press "Esc" while I was in that window, and I've tried to "Quit" the app from the Mission Control app. It just really bothers me that the window is still up. Any suggestions? Help!!!

Okay, so I just turned it off and back on because that solves all of life's problems, and it worked that time. Thanks a lot!!
