Adding group of terms to localdicationary ~/lib...

Hi!

I have been trying to add a custom word list to the local dictionary in ~/library/spelling. I open the localdictionary file and paste my terms in there but when I type documents and use terms I know I copied in there, the spell checker still flags them as incorrect. I have the latest version of the OS but nothing I do works. I've read that this should work just fine. Please help! Thanks!
