itunes purchase receipt always arrives a week a...

I've noticed that my email receipts for iTunes music purchases always seem to arrive about 1 week after the actual purchase. Is there any reason for this?

The most recent event happened today 9/3/17. On 8/24 I purchased two single songs by Joe Henry from his great Trampoline album. Today on 9/3 I received the email receipt for the purchase. More confusing is the receipt indicates the purchase was made on 9/2.

When I sign into iTunes and check my purchases through my account settings I see the accurate purchase date of 8/24.

At first when I received the email receipts I was concerned the purchases weren't made by me. I soon realized there was just a long delay in receiving the emails. I just received the latest delayed email receipt and this time I decided to try to find out why the lengthy delay and why the inaccurate dates of purchase are indicated.

Can anyone explain?
