Excel alert not enough memory

I've recently encountered a strange issue with Excel for Mac from Microsoft's 2016 package. On certain spreadsheets it displays an message saying:

'Alert Not Enough Memory.' As per the screenshot below.

There is plenty of space on the hard drive and plenty of available RAM. I tried running it in Safe mode, repaired disk permissions and tried converting the document to .xlsx all with no joy.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

As Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:

Office for Mac

Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

According to this Microsoft support article  the false warning is caused by a corrupt installation of Office. I can't confirm. If the suggested steps don't work, refer to Microsoft or its user forums for support.

None of this helps - the question is about Excel 2016 and the responses are about Excel 2011

Hey DopfelD,

Im having the exact same problem.   Did you ever find a solution?

Did you see the actions already suggested, especially to ask in the Office Mac forums that Microsoft maintains? The link is in my first post in this thread.

I have the same problem. The excel spreadsheet has it's own memory.  I'm using too many functions on one worksheet and that is why I encountered the "Not enough memory" error.
