Key behaves as pressing it twice

When pressing the space key my 2016 MacBook Pro often behaves as if I pressed it twice. As you can imagine that makes typing quite annoying.

I spilled a smoothie over the keyboard maybe 5-6 weeks back but except from some sticky keys it works just fine. The issue with the space key appeared only yesterday. Also, the space key itself is not sticky (only some keys in the WASD region).

If anyone has an idea how to fix this I'd be grateful to hear it. Although, I'm afraid taking it to the Apple Store will be a frequent suggestion..
