Keeping Contacts lists separate

Morning, friends

I'd like to maintain two different 'Contacts' lists (one for home and one for work), but not amalgamate the two. However, if I create a backup of, say, my work contacts and try to open it on the laptop which also stores my home contacts, I'm asked Are you sure you want to replace your Contacts data with the contacts in “Contacts - xx-xx-2017.abbu”? I get the choice of yes or cancel, but not no.

Is there a way of avoiding this and keeping the two quite separate? Thank you in anticipation of your help!

When you restore a Contacts Archive, it replaces what you have.

To add the contacts, export them as vCards.

However, unless you have a different CardDaV server or other address server, you cannot separate the two.

If they are part of another AppleID, you can add that AppleID as an Internet Account and enable the Contacts for it. Then, you could store those contacts under that AppleID account in Contacts.

Open address book via spotlight , take cursor on top menu bar , click on file - new group , create two groups separately and name as “ Home “ and “ Work “ .

Go to All contacts under iCloud section , select some contacts , move cursor from bottom to top to select part of contacts so that all of them would not be selected , once they are highlighted , press command and C on the keyboard , then take cursor on " Home " , click once over it and press command and V to paste it .

The data will be transferred , another scenario if you want selective individual contacts to be transferred drag and drop to the folder created as “ Home “ .

You can proceed in the same way for “ Work “ .
