Why is there not way to tell Apple Mail that an email is NOT JUNK!  There is no NOT JUNK button anywhere.  I am using Version 10.3 (3273) of Mail.

Right-click on any empty spot on the tool bar, select Customize Toolbar. From the pull-down menu that appears, select and drag to your toolbar any and all tools that you want to add to it. When the pull-down is visible, you can also re-arrange (drag around) the tools already there, into your preferred arrangement.

Hi

Not apple problem this is your email provider & your network I get this just move them to inbox.

Cheers

Brian

Brian,

I appreciate your taking time to reply.  Thank you.  However, I'm not following: how is this not an Apple problem when there is no "Not Junk" button and there is supposed to be?

Furthermore, of course I manually move the misdirected emails to my inbox, but Mail is not learning from my activity and keeps dumping the same sender's emails into my junk mail.  If I have to comb my Junk Mail folder it sort of defeats the purpose of have a Junk filter.  I might as well just turn off Junk Mail and let everything dump into my inbox.

In looking over the web, I am not the only one with this problem.

Thanks again for your reply.

I believe there's no way to tell it is junk either. iOS Mail doesn't come with spam or junk mail filter. All incoming email are sorted on the (mail provider) server and get redirected to Junk folder if the spam filter thinks it is junk mail.

Update

I just finished reading the article attached to your post. Sounds like there is a way to mark it as junk and not junk. Read the article again especially in the 2 sections: Report junk mail and Correct false-positives. The option is there but if it's not learning from your action (moving to Inbox), the junk mail filter is not effective.

You posted in the iPhone forum. Is your question about Mail on iPhone, or on your Mac? If on Mac, are these messages marked as junk and displayed in brown color, or just automatically moved to the Junk folder?

If the latter, it’s your email provider that is marking them as Junk, not the Mail app. Log into the mail web account and mark those emails as “not junk” there, or add their sender email addresses to the local address book.

Note that the article is specific to iCloud emails only.

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Hmm... not sure how this got pushed to the iPhone forum.

The messages are in brown.  It is Mail that is doing this to me.  I don't have this problem in Outlook or other email clients.

There is no NOT JUNK button anywhere.

The Junk / Not Junk button changes state depending on what you have selected. If you selected an email marked as Junk by Mail app, the button icon changes to show the arrow pointing up (ie, remove from the Junk folder). If you don’t see that button at all, customize your toolbar to display it.

Rysz,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Here is what I have.  I don't see an icon that looks anything like what you have posted.

Select a piece of mail that has been marked as junk.

Finally!  Thank you!  I would have NEVER found this on my own.

You’re welcome.

For future reference, many apps have customizable toolbars.

Yeah there is a Junk button, but no NOT JUNK buttom to tell Mail an item it thinks is Junk is in fact ok! The only way I know is to log in via browser into icloud and go to the Junk folder there... Though even tell Mail things are NOT junk here has no effect on future emails - it still carries on and shoves them into junk. So wish you could turn apples filtering off altogether.
