macOS Sierra: Drag and drop problems

Hi everyone, I just recently updated my MacBook Pro (17-inch, early 2011) software to Sierra. This is after a lot of notifications from Mac that kept asking me to update. So I did.

Everything is fine and I kind of loving the features that came with it including the iCloud thing. ( I am not very smart about computers ) . But despite all the goodness, who knew that the thing that is causing me problems right now is the drag and drop functions. I can't use it.

It's not just for a specific app or browser, but this occurs for everything. I just cant use it. I clicked and tried to drag but nothing happens. I thought it was a setting/preference feature that I havent turned on or something, but i cant seems to find the option for it.

so can anybody provide me with solutions to this? is it something about this new OS that i dont know about? or is it maybe a problem with the hardware (trackpad) ?

Your assistance is very appreciated.

Thank you.

You can read this article : macOS Sierra: Mouse & Trackpad pane of Accessibility System Preferences

Open system preferences > Accessibility > click on mouse and trackpad > click on trackpad options , check the boxes as shown & set the settings .

Thank you so much. I tried it and yes it did solve the problem.

But it was difficult to understand the drag lock concept. I just settle with the three finger drag.

Then what happened to the click and drag option? Does it not exist anymore?

If we click on drop down arrows of screen enable screen dragging and keep at as with drag lock .

Dragging will be stopped , also to move an object on a a surface needs inertia , Apple has used this concept of inertia for scrolling .

The law of inertia states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

So force is applied to to move an object from rest position to an another point .

In the same way to scroll on the computer inertia and three finger drag must be enabled .

How can you activate it to work with a mouse?  I got it to work on my laptop using the trackpad, because this setting is in the trackpad settings... but what about a desktop with only a mouse?  Why did this *stop* working in the first place.  Thanks!
