Why Does My iMac Freeze, ever

(On my iMac, I use Mac OS X Sierra v10.12.6, with a solid-state drive.  With a solid-state drive [SSD], I do not hear a spinning Hard Disk.  Installed, an SSD cost $425.86 on 27 Nov 16.)

Often, the whole screen of my iMac shifts leftward & it freezes. This interrupts my Train of Thought.  :-(  It takes a couple of seconds to shift rightward, un-freezing.  Then I can resume work, Happily.  :-)

Does anyone have an answer to Why the Temporary Freeze?  Thank you.

P. S.  I saw that Mac High Sierra will be here in the fall.  Maybe this will relieve me, I hope?
