Do I need iCloud for this?

Hello.

Im new to Macs and I've just started school and writing a lot of documents. The thing is, I can't figure out how to save my documents on the computer so to say and not on iCloud.

So how do I save it on my computer and not on iCloud.

And I also use Office and Word if that makes it any different.

Copy the files from iCloud Drive to a folder other than Documents and the Desktop. Go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options and turn off syncing by unchecking Documents & Desktop.  Rearrange the files as desired.
