incorrect resolution for external display

hi. according to the tech spec for my macbook air "display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display"  however. I'm only seeing 1920. I'm using Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. Any idea how to fix this ?

Do you know if your monitor supports the full resolution of 2560 by 1600?
