Messages (MacBook Pro) Won't Send/Receive Pictures

Out of the blue, my wife's MacBook Pro quit sending or receiving pictures via Messages. If I send her a picture from my phone, she gets it on her phone, but not on her MacBook. It shows up as an img file, but won't download to the app. When she receives a photo, she gets an error message about image not sending (when she's the one receiving it!). I click "try again". Same problem.

I've quit and restarted the app. I've restarted the computer. I signed out of her Messages and signed back in. No help.

Ideas?

She's running Sierra.
