aol email security settings for nov 2017

AOL has us bamboozled with the need to update the security settings.

Having been through their directions to set up a new IMAP account using Mail for Mac, it is now not possible to send emails even though the smtp settings appear to be correct...

Anybody out there able to help illustrate why we are such a bunch of numpties please?
