High Sierra failed to install on iMac?

High Sierra download but failed to install on my mid 2012 iMac. I've done the full diagnostic check and it's all okay and I have 168 GB free space. I'm now locked in a restart- reinstall death loop that I can't escape from. When I look for a startup disk, there is none.

how do I get Sierra back?
