How do I get Home sharing to work on my devices?

With iTunes 12 and iOS 10 coming out I’ve had lots of trouble connecting to my computer via homesharing.  When I’m finally able to connect one of our tablets (which is rarely) it says I’m not authorized to view the video file.  Not sure where else I need to enter my password for authorization. It’s really annoying and a hassle for my autistic daughter that likes to watch her movies.
