macbook pro keyboard typing wrong

I can’t login to my MacBook Pro. The keyboard types letters in CAPS, and types symbols instead of numbers, for instance I type 5 it shows %, I type 9 it shows (, I type . (Full stop) It shows >. Can someone help please

Is the Caps Lock key on the left side of the keyboard ON? Some keyboards have a light indicator on the key if it’s ON.

Thank you. It types in CAPS whether the CAPS LOCK light is on or not. I have pushed the CAPS button several times but to no avail. Most worrisome is that other keys (number and symbol keys) type wrong as I said in previous post, guess the reason my password doesn’t log me into the laptop. Would appreciate any help or suggestions to fix this

I think Rysz was close, but if the "." is typing > and the 9 is a "(" and such, it sounds like one of the shift keys may be stuck. Try playing around with them a bit and see what happens.

Archieny I have tried but it’s not working. The 2 SHIFT keys don’t look stuck, both press down and come up ok. Any other ideas please? Thanks
