Used SSD Drives

I have been planning to upgrade my MacBook Pro mid 2012 version with 16 gigs of Ram and replacing my 512 gb hdd to 256 gb ssd (used). Is it advisable to buy a used ssd? Also could anybody confirm if Crucial M550 250gb ssd will work with my MacBook Pro Mid 2012 version.

Hi,

There should be nothing wrong with a used SSD, as they have an expected life of longer than most people would ever use them.

Yes, the Crucial will work. Your MBP needs a 2.5" SATA SSD, and that's what the Crucial is, so yes, it will work if there's nothing wrong with it.

Note that you can get a newer, 275GB version, the MX300, for $93, so don't pay too much for the used one: Amazon.com: Crucial MX300 275GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive - CT275MX300SSD1: Computers & Accessories
