iBooks not showing up in iTunes

Hi!

I've just reset my old iPad 3 to give to my 3 year old daughter. From "her side" of my macbook pro (she's got her own account with her own icloud account... etc) I've loaded a bunch of epubs in iBooks, which have now loaded on the iPad through iCloud. However, they're not showing up in iTunes when the iPad is connected. It says "No items" under "Books". On the summary page of the iPad, the amount of available space on the iPad doesn't even show the books. I'm utterly nonplussed.

Any thoughts?
