how to format mac hdd with missing partition

I cannot format my mac hdd I have previous bootcamp and i erase it but it does not show up in partition. I have 500gb total but when i try to open disk utility it only shows 300gb partition the one with mac os installed. But when i try to click partition it shows 500gb total but when i try to new partition the disk it failed. I have mac high sierra installed. Can someone help me. Thank you
