Can I downgrade a 2007 iMac from El Capitan to ...

Downgrade 2007 iMac from el capitan to lion.

If you have a Time Machine version of the earlier OS or a bootable clone then yes,  otherwise, no and you are best staying at El Capitan and upgrading the RAM to the 6GB max.

A 2007 iMac originally likely sold with 10.4.x or 10.5.x which is several generations removed from 10.8.5. Considering the age of the 2007 (not 10+ years old) have you considered replacing it?

It's actually a refurbished mac I'm looking to buy, most run el capitan.

I need to run Logic 9 on it as Logic x can't run 32 bit plugins without an adapter. Would it not be a case of inserting mountain lion discs and booting from them?
