Intermittent ticking sound brand new MBA

I have a brand new from the Apple Store (although manufactured in early 2015) MBA SSD (13 inch). It makes an intermittent ticking noise in the upper left corner of the keyboard near the power outlet, every 3-4 seconds, a number of clicks. It can also get quite warm under heavy use. I know it's the fan.

The 'just tap or knock on the bottom / top of the computer and the fan will fire up magically' solution does not work for me (and didn't on my previous MBA).

It's obvious from even a basic Google search that this issue has existed for years and is pretty widespread, and I have in fact had it on a previous MBA. Does anyone know if I can demand an instant replacement under warranty while in store, given this is clearly a manufacturing or design flaw? The offer to have it repaired sounds good on paper but as most people only have 1 laptop Apple must well know that most people won't want to be without theirs for the couple of weeks it will take to have it repaired.

I can't be the only one who is frustrated that such an expensive product from an attention-to-detail company like Apple has basic design / manufacturing flaws that aren't fixed for years?
