Silent mode
Hello!
Thanks for reading my concerns. I just bought the Apple Watch 3.
Silent mode: When I'm in silent mode on my Iphone, the Apple Watch still make noise, this is very annoying when I'm at reunion and classes. Any way to link apple silent mode (with the left switch) to my watch? (I do not want to use "do not disturb mode).
Navigation: When I ask siri on my watch to take me to some place, the Iphone screen lights up and siri talks form the Iphone and there is no way to top it from doing so. This is very very very useless.... there is a reason why I'm putting the address on the watch and not the Iphone. Is there any way to get voice navigation JUST in the watch?
Music: When I try to listen to music in the watch, it ask me to connect a bluetooth speaker or headphones. Again, why would I try to use my watch for music if it ask for an external device to reproduce it? In that case I would just use my Iphone.... Any way to reproduce music on the watch?
Thanks very much
Hi
Silent mode:
Silent Mode is enabled and disabled separately on each of Apple Watch and iPhone.
For Apple Watch, the mode can be toggled on and off via Control Centre:
The same section of the User Guide also explains how to use Do Not Disturb mode, the setting for which can be mirrored, if preferred, across your devices (including for scheduled operation).
Navigation
Apple Watch does not offer voice navigation:
Music
Under watchOS 4.x, for controlling playback of music from your iPhone rather than the synced playlists on Apple Watch (for which Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth speaker are required), then - other than by using Siri - it is necessary to first start playback on your iPhone before being able to control playback on your Apple Watch.
When you are already playing supported audio on your iPhone (whether via the Music app or a third-party app), the Now Playing app is shown automatically in the Dock on your Apple Watch and can be used to control playback on your iPhone. However, unlike under prior versions of watchOS, those controls no longer include the ability to browse or select playlists via screen-based inputs.
Now Playing can be configured to be shown automatically on Apple Watch upon raising your wrist when playing supported media on your iPhone. This is the default setting. To turn this feature off or on:
- On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wake Screen > turn off Auto-Launch Audio Apps.
If desired, Now Playing can be added to the Dock permanently and/or added to a watch face as a complication.
Follow the instructions here:
- Listen to music on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
- Now Playing
- Play music
- Change your watch face - Apple Support
- Use the Dock on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
If the Music and/or Now Playing apps do not offer all of the features that you would prefer, then you can submit a feature request to Apple here:
