my mac can't communicate with my printer/scanne...

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled OS X Yosemite version 10.10.5. I have a Macbook pro 15" late 2011 with a 2.2GHz intel core 17 processor and 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory. Now the computer can't communicate with the printer even though I have updated the software including the Epson Printer software version 3.3 using software update on "about this Mac". I have run the Wi-Fi setup on the printer and this shows everything as fine and prints/scans using a USB cable but not by Wi-Fi.
