Help with Pages

I have an old Ipad that hasn't been on in a while. In between the last time I used it, and now, I have purchased a new ipad. The other day I noticed all of my old files were not available on the new one via the cloud, so I charged the old one. When I opened it, one by one each of the old files deleted themselves. The only one I was able to save was one that was loaded at the time, pages informed me it was deleted on another device, and asked if I would like to keep it. From what I've read there is not, but was hoping there was a way to retrieve these files? Thanks.

One thing to try: Use a computer and log in to www.icloud.com and click on Settings. In the Advanced section of Settings click "Restore Files."
