ASM and MDM Apple ID

I have set myself up with ASM and an MDM for brand new iPads at my child care center.  I am now beginning to turn on the new ipads to sync with my MDM.  The problem is that it is asking for an Apple ID for iTunes.  I am unable to use my ASM Apple ID for this.  I am assuming that I need to create a new Apple ID that will connect to the iTunes store in order for app syncing and what not?  I don't want to dig into it if it is going to create issues with my MDM working correctly.
