what is the best workout mode to use for golf

What is the best mode to use for playing golf on the apple watch

You're welcome!

I'd suggest walking as that's the major exercise component of golf. Unless, of course, you use a cart.

Hi

I suggest that you record your golfing activity using "Other", which also enables you to name the workouts as "Golf" (see below).

When recording workouts via the Workout app, choosing the activity type that most closely matches your workout enables your watch to use the most appropriate sensors and data sources when estimating results, including using tailored calorie calculations for certain activities.

To record workouts that are neither included within nor sufficiently similar to those in the main list, choose Other as the activity type.

This credits one minute of Exercise for each full minute of the workout and Active Calories (Move goal) at a rate equivalent to a brisk walk or based on data from the heart rate sensor, whichever is higher. (Note that neither distance nor a route map are recorded under this workout type).

When ending an Other workout, tap on Name Workout in order to label it from a range of activity types, which include Golf.

For convenience, the workouts that you do most often will be offered as Quick Start options within the Workout app (including previous Other workouts with their saved labels pre-selected).

Rather than using the Workout app, you may prefer to consider using a third-party golfing app to track your activity.

Apps that you may wish to consider include, for example:

Other golfing apps are also available via the App Store.

To search the App Store whilst limiting the results to show only those apps that include an app for Apple Watch, search via the Watch app on your iPhone (via the App Store or Search tabs).

I appreciate your reply, but using"other" does not accurately reflect the statistical values of a round of golf. Also, the apps of the type you mention are of a different nature than what the original poster was asking about. Those are GPS based apps for scoring and measuring distances. They are not workout apps.

If find it surprising Apple has not added Golf to it's workout choices. Equally as surprising, they have not created a workout that will accurately record values from a workout session with a trainer. I have compared the values recorded using the "other" option with those generated by other devices that have developed options that cover golf and one on one training sessions. The differences are significant enough to make very question the validity of the stats for those activities when using my Apple Watch.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Apple Watch and could never go back to other devices, but this is a short coming and a little internet searching reveals there are quite a few people who seem to think so. How hard could it really be to add additional options to the workout choices? I would really like to see Apple remedy this.

If you would like to submit a feature request to Apple, then you can do so here:

(You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community).

Thank you for the suggestion Jonathan. I will do so.

You're welcome!
