Indexing (mds

This started after upgrading to macOS Sierra 10 days ago. I have upgraded to to Version 10.12.1 but it hasn't helped.

I have turned off Spotlight for all but mail application to stop the indexing.

I have signed off from the iCloud.

I have changed my power setting to never sleep for the last 7 days to allow it to finish indexing but it hasn't?!

The Activity Monitor shows that mds_stores is taking over 50% of CPU and I can only type a few letters and then I get the rainbow circle indicating that the system is busy and I have to wait. It is very frustrating and for weeks I haven't been able to use my mac now. Please advise.

It appears that the mds_stores process may have crashed.

Try force-quitting it from Activity Monitor.

I have been having the same issue, force quitting it only works for a few minutes and then it starts back up again.
