Play .dvs video file?

I was given a .dvs video file from a surveillance system and need to be able to view the file. I don't have a program that will open it and I am looking for something that will.

I got this when I googled '.dvs file on a Mac'

I have been on that same page. Most of them cost money and I am fine spending the money as long as I know a product is going to do what I need it to do. If anyone has any experience with any of the products and know I will be able to use the for the .dvs file I will buy it.

I'm sure the file can be played with VLC or other major players. Plan B: Do a backup copy and try to change the files' extension to .avi, .mov, whatever, and then play them in VLC or something.

The file must come from a video surveillance system that has its own format to make you stay with them. I've come across .xem files which in fact were mjpeg videos. Played them with VLC.

I tried all that too. VLC wont play it natively and changing the extension does nothing to change it. Turns out it is an encrypted file from the company. You have to have their stuff to play it. We are just going to go over to their office to view the video on their equipment. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm dealing with the same thing except I can't get a hold of anyone at the company, Do you happen to know the name of the security software or company? Thanks.
