Where do "skipped" files go?

I pasted some pictures into a folder and then moved to the trash the original files. I then pasted some other items into the same folder but as some items had the same names, I stupidly selected "skip" when asked how to proceed. After this, I moved to the trash the original files of this second round too. In the bin now, I don't have two items with the same name, this means that he automatically "skipped" for the bin too? I never emptied the trash and half of my pictures are gone now. Any suggestion?

If you skip a file, nothing happens with it. The original should still be in the same place it was.

That’s what I thought too and that’s why I pressed skip but after moving everything to the trash, there are not two files with the same name there. Any other idea?
