iCloud backup and iTunes

I have three iOS devices. Since the High Sierra update I've had problems with syncing them and their backup on iCloud. When I look at my old iPad mini and tell iTunes that it should be backed up via iCLoud (which is the setup on the iPad mini) it reverts to backup on my computer. I have reset the iPad once already but it makes no difference. In the Device Info on the iPad ICloud Backup is checked. It says it backed up to iCloud last night. However, iTunes refuses to change the setting from backup to the computer to backup to iCLoud.
