"Fixing Damaged Partition Map" Operation Failed?

Hi everyone-

Until yesterday I've been using an external 2TB Seagate HDD to store large audio-visual files (photos, movies, iTunes library, etc.).

This morning I plugged in the drive and got this message: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer."  Oh my.

I tried Disk Utility First Aid and got this message: "Fixing damaged partition map.  The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.DiskManagement error -69874.) Operation failed..."

This sounds very, very bad.  I have backed up about two-thirds of the data on the drive but the remaining third has some irreplaceable data (I know, I know).  Otherwise, I would erase and restore, but if there is ANY other option available I would be groveling in gratitude!

Many thanks...

I have the same problem. My external HD is Seagate 3T in NTFS format, I use Paragon to manage it.

Any ideas? Is there a solution without formatting the hard drive?

Please help

Thanks

I have exactly the same hardware and issue. Don't really mind anything that'll erase the disk as I was using it as a backup drive.  But I would like to fix the partition so it's fully functional again.

Did you find any resolution to this?

Thanks
