Touch ID not working on MacBook Pro

HI everyone,

Apologies if this question has been asked before but I've had a look and can't see quite what I'm after.

Basically the Touch ID on my MacBook Pro has ceased working. When I initially set up the computer 6 months ago I set up Touch ID and it worked absolutely fine but now for some reason it's just stopped and doesn't offer the prompt when unlocking/logging or for installing apps/programs.

I had a look in System Preferences and none of my fingerprints are showing up there (screenshot attached) and when I click to add my fingerprint again it comes up with the message 'Fingerpint limit reached. To add a new fingerprint remove a fingerprint from any account on this Mac' (screenshot attached) - this issue with this is that no fingerprints are coming up at all for me to remove.

I've tried restarting the MacBook Pro and shutting it down and pressing Control, Option, Shift & Power at the same time but I've not had any luck.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Martin
