How do you open two apps at same time

I have am iPad Pro IOIS11 I saw the video but can not open two apps at the same time. I want to open Notes and Safari

First make sure both Apps are available on the dock at the bottom, either because they are in the recently opened section to the right or are on the dock normally.

With both on the dock, tap on one to open it. With the App opened, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up the dock. Drag the other App from the dock on top of the opened app, and it should open as a floating bar.

You can leave it as is or tap and drag the gray bar at the top to dock it. This will activate split screen.  You can then drag the bar in the middle to adjust both apps to the size you want each to have.

Launch Safari, then close it. This ensures it will be shown in the Dock.

Launch Notes.

Slide your finger up from the bottom bezel. Let go when the Dock appears in full.

Tap and hold on Safari icon in the Dock. When the icon seems to “lift” above the Dock, slide it to the far upper-right corner. If you slide up high enough and let go, it will open a ⅓ screen window. Grab on the grey handle in the back dividing line to adjust app window sizes.
