very slow wifi speed with ipad mini

It can take more than an hour to upgrade my apps.  I am four feet from my Airport Express wireless router.  My iphone5 and origianl ipad have no problems.  How can I improve the wifi speed?  Thanks in advance.

There could be a hardware problem with your iPad Mini.

If you are having WiFi problems it is necessary to isolate whether the problem is with your network or your iPad. Note: Do NOT consider your network to be blameless if some other devices can connect to it.

First, test your iPad on some other WiFi networks: a friends, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, etc.

If it works well there then the problem is probably with your network. Try restarting your WiFi router by removing power for 30 seconds. If that does not help check for a firmware update for your router. If none exists which corrects the problem consider replacing the router.

If your iPad does not function well on other networks it possibly has a hardware problem. You could try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings to see if that corrects the problem. If not, contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for evaluation. They can provide a replacement if your iPad is bad.

If you need more help please give the make, model, and version of your WiFi router and how you have it configured.

We'll I have the same problem 2 with my ipad mini without retina display science my internet speed is 645kb/s on my PC, laptop and on my Samsung gallaxy sIII but for my ipad the speed is around 15-65kb/s

I've had my new iPad mini for a month or so. Having similar problems with wifi strength issues. Streaming clips from Youtube will stop with a spinning wheel for more time than I have patients for. Testing it with a speed app shows it strong then flat then strong then flat. Slowly reducing in strength over the course of the test. In comparison my first generation iPad works great. No wifi problems.

On a similar note I also traded in my iPhone 4 for an iPhone 5s the same day. Similar weak strength in recieving wifi signal. The iPhone 4 had full strength.

This is obviously not an isolated problem. I have an appointment with the Genius Bar. We'll see what they will tell me.

Worked for me, download speeds went from 0.6Mpbs to 6.4Mbps. Life-saver!

What in the world are you talking about?

II've also heard bottleneck style behavior for ex-Verizon/Sprint gsm Minis used with AT&T, T-Mobile. My mini 1 runs @ .6mb and relocation and resetting doesn't help.
