Mac contacts not syncing with iCloud

My MBP Contacts have stopped syncing with iCloud (in either direction). Mail and Calendar sync just fine.  I have tried unchecking and re-checking Keychain for Contacts and signing out and back in to my Apple ID. I have also tried restarting my Mac. Now I'm stuck.  Need advice.  Thanks.
