Dual monitor and dvi on iMac
I want to run a dual monitor to a 5K iMac. The monitor I want to use is my 30" cinema display currently hooked up to my MacPro (circa 2008 on Mountain Lion). From what I understand I need to go from DVI to mini display, then mini display to Thunderbolt 3.
My question is: Is there a way to place a DVI switch in the process in order to allow for the 30" display to continue on my "legacy machine" (or new Mac mini) as the primary screen, then switch over to being the dual monitor for the iMac when needed for editing programs (ie: Final Cut X)?
Will this scenario work, and if so what hardware switch and adapters are recommended to accomplish this?
Thanks!
Scott
