Preview

I have problems using the search function to find words in PDF documents that I know are there. Does anyone have a fix?

How was the document created?

Most of them were downloaded from online databases. Another strange thing is that when I use the finder to search for a keyword, it will show me the PDF documents containing it, but once I search in Preview, the search function doesn't show any results.
